Panamá, encuentro, Cuba, condena, bloqueo, EEUU
Panama, Mar 12 (Prensa Latina) Forums and days of condemnation are among the initiatives Panamanian and Cuban women residing in the isthmus will carry out, as they agreed on Friday, for the end of the US blockade against Cuba.

At the closing of brotherly meeting at Casa Cuba Center, La Vitrina, in homage to the International Women´s Day, the Secretary of Youth of the National Coordinator of Solidarity with Cuba Lilian Ruiz proposed moving forward with a program that supports the fair fight for the cessation of the US blockade.

In the meeting, in honor to Vilma Espín, heroine of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and one of the pioneers along with Marta Matamoros (deceased) of the National Union of Panamanian Women, Dally Batista, recalled her visits to Havana in the 70s and those shared learning sessions on the defense of elementary rights and gender equality.

Women´s involvement in Panamanian society, she told Prensa Latina, is strategic and does not depend on governments in power, because it will allow significant changes in political, economic and social relations.

On the other hand, Vielka Sanjur, president of the Espacio Encuentro de Mujeres Feminist Organization, shared her organization’s experiences in community work and the training of grassroots leaders, caring for children and teens as well as migrant women in Darién and Ngabe-Buglé territories.

Blanca Hernández, member of the Martiana Association of Cuban Residents in Panama, told her hosts about organizational aspects and the scope of work on neighborhoods of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC, in Spanish) created by the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.
