Palestinian leader calls on Israeli FM to restart talks

Ramallah, Mar 10 (Prensa Latina) Palestinian Civil Affairs Minister Hussein al-Sheikh has called on Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid to resume talks between the two sides to seek a negotiated solution based on international resolutions and regulations, it was reported on Thursday.

On his Twitter account, Al-Sheikh highlighted his meeting with the head of Israeli diplomacy on Wednesday evening, the second between the two politicians in less than two months.

The official also stressed during the meeting the importance of stopping the Israeli unilateral measures that prevent a solution.

Both officials had already met on January 23 to also address these issues and the bilateral relations.

In December 2021, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with Defense Minister Benny Gantz during a visit to Israel, the first in 12 years.

Despite these contacts, the situation deteriorated in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in recent months, due to a rise in attacks by Israeli settlers and the military forces.
