Russia destroys 2,482 Ukrainian military targets

Moscow, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) Russia's Ministry of Defense on Tuesday reported that the armed forces have destroyed 2,482 Ukrainian military targets since the beginning of the military operation, on February 24.

Defense Ministry Spokesman, Major General Igor Konashenkov, announced that among the targets destroyed are 87 command posts and communication centers, 124 S-300, Buk-M1 and Osa anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as 79 radar stations.

The official added that 866 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 91 multiple rocket launchers, 317 field artillery guns and mortars, 634 units of special military vehicles, as well as 81 drones have been also destroyed.

He stated that in the last few hours, the forces of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) have advanced nine kilometers and eight localities have been liberated; while the militias of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) established control over Osoaviajim neighborhood in the city of Mariupol.

Konashenkov warned that a ceasefire was established on Tuesday as of 10:00 hours, local time, and humanitarian corridors from Kiev, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Mariupol have been opened, in order to safely evacuate civilians from those cities.

Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, after the DPR and LPR authorities requested help to repel the aggression from Kiev.
