The president of the Commission for Attention to Children, Youth and Equal Rights for Women of the National Assembly also exposed during the meetings the impact of the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
The deputy spoke with André Flahaut, one of the members of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, and was received at the Federal Parliament by legislators Thierry Warmoes, president of the Commission on Health and Equal Opportunities in the Chamber, and Francoise De Smedt, head of the Political Group in the Parliament of Brussels-Capital region.
Regarding the European Parliament, the visitor spoke with one of its vice presidents, Dimitrios Papadimoulis, with whom she agreed on the importance of promoting parliamentary relations on the basis of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement between Cuba and the European Union.
Santana also considered satisfactory the meeting with Robert Biedron, president of the Commission on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, who described Cuba as an example in the issue of women’s rights.
For their part, members of the Group of Friendship and Solidarity with Cuba in the European Parliament ratified their solidarity with Cuba and their rejection of the US blockade, and praised the debates around the Family Code and the achievements in terms of empowerment of the woman.
