Angola ratifies mobility agreement for community bloc

Luanda, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Deputies to the National Assembly of Angola approved today the parliamentary ratification of a mobility agreement between the member states of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).

The pact arose from a proposal made by the Angolan executive during the XIII Ordinary Summit of the CPLP Heads of State and Government, held in Luanda in July 2021.

Signed then by the foreign ministers, the document comprises different modalities for the entry and stay of a citizen of one country in the territory of another, including short-term stay, temporary stay, residence visa and residence.

According to the parties, the purpose of the legal instrument is to establish a legal framework to facilitate the movement and circulation of persons, goods and services in the CPLP area.

In the final statement of the summit, they also endorsed the interest of increasing cooperation relations in all areas and promoting the feeling of belonging to the community bloc.

Nine states are members of the organization, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, Timor-Leste.
