Al-Mekdad considered that the West’s campaign and actions against Russia are similar to what Syria has faced during the years of war.
He charged that the United States and the West continue to support terrorism in Syria, which is a threat to the Middle East and the world.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the two Donbas republics, and said that the decision was long overdue.
The situation in the Donbas region worsened in recent days, as Lugansk and Donetsk denounced increased shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces and ordered general mobilization as a precaution against an offensive by the Ukrainian Army.
