Tokyo, Feb 21 (Prensa Latina) Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Thursday will join a virtual meeting of the G7 countries to address the situation in Ukraine, the Government announced this Monday.

At a press briefing, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno announced that Tokyo will actively contribute to the discussion.

“Several diplomatic efforts are underway but tensions are rising in eastern Ukraine” the official spokesman stressed.

Regarding the nearly 120 Japanese nationals in Ukraine, Matsuno mentioned an evacuation plan involving them and including charter flights to neighboring nations.

On February 15, Kishida spoke with Ukrainian head of State Volodymyr Zelensky, when he reiterated his commitment to a peaceful solution to the dispute, and he also held talks with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.
