In a meeting organized by the New Economy Forum, Ms. Simson said the solution is to develop clean energy to avoid external dependence, and also stated that, before the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Union (EU) paid about €300 billion in imports of natural gas, oil and other fuels.
Ms. Simson praised the role of sources such as renewable gases and green hydrogen, and stressed that Spain has the best conditions to produce them.
Likewise, she championed the opportunities the green transition represents for economic recovery, forecasting the creation of one million jobs in the EU by 2030 in construction and industry sectors.
Regarding EU members´ decision to bet or not on nuclear power sources, Ms. Simson said it´s the right of each country to identify its energy matrix.
