The communiqué stressed that the drills were planned in advance to test the readiness of the military command agencies, launch teams, warship crews and strategic missile carriers.

According to the military agency, the goal of the training is to verify the compliance with the assigned tasks, as well as the reliability of the weapons of the nuclear and non-nuclear strategic forces.

The Ministry reported that the military exercises involve forces and combat means from the Aerospace Forces, the South Military District, the Strategic Missile Forces and the Russian Northern and Black Sea Fleets.

The strategic maneuvers involving the three components of the strategic nuclear forces are held every year, as a general rule, at the end of the military academic year, TASS news agency reported.
