The agreement, reached within the framework of the 6th EU-AU Leaders Summit, aims to contribute to making technology available to Africa to promote local Covid-19 vaccine.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, one of the lessons of the Covid-19 pandemic is the pressing need to increase coronavirus vaccine production.

Mr. Adhanom claimed this technological development will help African nations to make headway towards their own treatments against other diseases such as malaria or tuberculosis.
