Ciego de Avila, Cuba Feb 18 (Prensa Latina) The resumption of flights by Air Transat to the Cayo Coco's international airport ratifies Canada as the major tourist-sending market to Jardines del Rey, in Cuba.

Interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the first of Air Transat flights in the ongoing tourist season arrived on Thursday from Halifax and it will be one of three weekly flights to the northern keys of Ciego de Avila.

The head of operations at the air terminal, Nestor Rodriguez, pointed out that the other two flights will be from Toronto and Montreal to total 20 flights from Canada every week, in addition to others from Russia and Argentina.

Both the airport and the hotel and recreational facilities in Jardines del Rey have reinforced the biosafety protocols established by the Ministry of Public Health to prevent the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.

The increase in tourist arrivals in the northern keys of central Cuba demonstrates the safety and reliability offered by the tourism industry in the country, despite the epidemiological complexities at the international level.
