The announcement came after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said his country´s authorities had backed the rollout of jabs to youngsters on Wednesday afternoon made by the UK´s Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI).
Although it has yet to be officially published, we accept JCVI’s recommendation, Ms. Sturgeon said.
According to The Guardian, the British government, which runs health services in England and oversees purchase and distribution of vaccines for the whole UK, delayed settling on respective vaccination to children aging 5-11 for economic reasons.
The Guardian reported, however, that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson could announce the procedure coming week, as part of a long-term plan designed by UK Government so that the British learn how to live with Covid-19, although other media reported the decision could be known on Wednesday.
Northern Ireland is also expected to support JCVI´s recommendation quite soon.
