UNSC officials said the sanctions are now more targeted and designed to limit unintended humanitarian consequences.
Currently, there are 14 sanctions regimes in force approved by UNSC, which affect different countries such as Libya, Yemen, Mali, Somalia and Sudan.
Regarding Sudan, local panorama generates great concern among the international community due to the climate of violence there.
As reported Monday by the UN Secretary-General´s spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, the first phase of consultations in Sudan by UN to advance in a political process has already concluded. This first stage began past January 8 and brought together a variety of sectors including civil society, women’s rights groups, political parties, academics, journalists and others, Mr. Dujarric said.
