The book includes a documented essay by the title “Orbit of a legend”, which collects the main events in the life and career of the late founder of the National Ballet of Cuba.
The poet Miguel Barnet will be in charge of the presentation, which will take place on February 18th in headquarters of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.
According to the press release, the book also includes a section entitled “Vision of her contemporaries”, which brings together several analytical approaches to the art of Alicia Alonso, the complete catalog of her choreographic creations, as well as photographs belonging to the National Dance Museum archive and from the Cuba en el Ballet magazine.
European dancers Maurice Béjart and Rudolf Nureyev and Cuban writers, Alejo Carpentier and Dulce María Loynaz are among the figures who expressed their impressions of Alonso.
