“We receive with deep sorrow the news of the passing away of the comrade of struggle and friend of the PS-1 (Socialist Party-1). It hurts very much the departure of a brilliant economist and academic committed to just causes. Our condolences to his family,” the president wrote on Twitter.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State confirmed Pardo’s death the day before in a statement published on that social network.
The text states that, after weeks of struggle to regain stability in his health, Pardo died in Havana on Sunday 13.
At the same time, the Foreign Ministry expressed its deepest condolences to the family of the Bolivian diplomat.
For his part, the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, deeply regretted on his Twitter account the death of Pardo in a message in which he expressed “our condolences to the Government and people of Bolivia and especially to his family members”.
