The report from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) stated that 13,778 patients are in hospitals or at home nationwide, 8,862 of whom are suspected cases, 107 are under epidemiological surveillance and 4,809 are active cases (190 fewer than those reported on Saturday).
At a press briefing on television, MINSAP added that 1,083 patients were discharged after recovering from the disease (185 more than on the previous day), so the number of recovered patients rose to 1,047,392 (98.7 percent).
MINSAP added that 41 people are being treated in intensive care units: 20 are in a critical condition and 21 are seriously ill.
The provinces with the highest number of Covid-19 cases are Holguin (173), Ciego de Avila (117) and Sancti Spiritus (113).
So far, Cuba has accumulated 1,060,732 contagions and 8,472 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country on March 11, 2020.
The data released by MINSAP showed that Cuba’s lethality rate is 0.80 percent, a figure much lower than 1.42 percent recorded globally and 1.79 percent in the Americas.
