According to an article published on the US website, Cuba is doing a great job, outperforming its upper-middle income peers, currently nearly completing the primary vaccination stage, and is going ahead of many nations.
The report entitled How is the best-vaccinated developing country in the world doing? praised Cuba’s capacity to produce homegrown vaccine candidates: Abdala, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus. “When it comes to total vaccine coverage, Cuba is currently ranked one among developing countries. That is a remarkable achievement. It is the result of a strong performance in terms of primary vaccination coverage (where it ranks number 3) and ranks one in booster dose coverage,” the website reported.
In a comparison between Omicron and Delta variants, Pandem-ic.com reported that new cases in Cuba did not exceed, or even come close to previous peak, which it is in stark contrast to most other countries.
Cuba’s experience has been truly outstanding, the website said, while adding that thanks to the development and production of domestic vaccine doses, the vaccine coverage could be increased promptly.
“Vaccination success seems to have reached quite good results, especially on mortality rate. (…) results are impressive.”
“Cuba’s story is the one we would like to see anew in other parts of the world. It is critical the vaccine production be less geographically concentrated and that manufacturing capabilities be more widely shared.”
