According to digital version of newspaper Juventud Rebelde, activities will take place from February 14 to 25 in communities, houses of culture and educational institutions, where the artists of the people and promoters of Cuban culture will perform.
According to the president of the José Martí Brigade, Emilio Toledo, among the planned actions there will be the screening of the documentary Instructor artist and the inauguration of the collective photographic exhibition “Brigadista soy”.
Regarding the latter, he said that it is an exhibition about the work of art instructors in these times of pandemic and highlighted the creation workshops, dialogues between generations and a tweet in tribute to the date.
Toledo assured “tribute will be paid to Olga Alonso, a graduate of the first school of art instructors, who lost her life at the age of 19, due to an accident, and in whose honor this celebration was instituted” on February 18, 1964.
The objective of the Instructors Brigade has been to transform the sociocultural environment of communities and schools, bringing art to vulnerable places to raise aesthetic tastes and promote artistic and human values since its inception.
