The Russian athlete crossed the finish line in 38.18 minutes, behind Finnish Iivo Niskanen (37.54.8), while Norwegian Johannes Klaebo (38.32.3) won the bronze medal.
This is Bolshunov’s second medal in the competition, after winning gold in the skiathlon.
The athlete is 25-years-old and won three silver medals and one bronze at the 2018 Olympics. He is the 2021 world champion in skiathlon, having won six silver medals and one bronze in 2018.
Bolshunov became the first skier from Russia to win the Olympics, the World Cup and the overall World Cup classification.
