As part of his official meeting with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Mr. Stoltenberg stressed he awaits for the approval by NATO´s allies to start sending and deploying troops in Eastern Europe.
Mr. Stoltenberg´s announcement on the new deployment of troops in the Eastern Europe comes amid USA-Russia tensions.
Regarding this issue, the NATO chief praised Romania’s contribution to Euro-Atlantic “security” and is studying a “long-term adjustment”, which includes deploying troops in Romania and in other regional countries.
In turn, NATO will send more troops, aircraft and warships for surveillance missions along the eastern border.
According to Mr. Stoltenberg, the new plan will be passed coming week in Brussels, hoping to gather support for such an initiative.
