According to people on social networks, who posted photos of the meteorological event, the waterspout penetrated the land through an area between Tarara and Guanabo beaches, toppling down trees and power lines.
This phenomenon could have been caused by the prevailing atmospheric conditions on Wednesday in western Cuba as a result of a cold front accompanied by clouds and rains.
Waterspouts, which are common in tropical areas mainly, occur when clouds form a funnel or tube-shaped extension that can reach up to 200 meters in diameter and about 1,000 meters high, which is usually located between the base of a cumulonimbus and the surface of the sea, where they always originate.
