Cuba reports 919 Covid-19 cases and three deaths

Havana, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Wednesday reported 919 new Covid-19 cases, 99 fewer than on Tuesday, and three deaths due to complications related to the disease in the last 24 hours.

The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) stated that 16,261 patients are in hospitals or at home nationwide, 10,077 of whom are suspected cases, 120 are under epidemiological surveillance and 6,064 are active cases (670 fewer than those reported on Tuesday).

At a press briefing on television, the MINSAP added that 1,586 patients were discharged after recovering from the disease (667 more than on the previous day), so the number of recovered patients rose to 1,042,273 (98.6 percent of all cases).

The MINSAP added that 48 people are being treated in intensive care units: 23 are in a critical condition and 25 are seriously ill.

The provinces with the highest Covid-19 incidence are Matanzas with 224 cases, followed by Holguin with 137 and Sancti Spiritus with 79.
