Douyin, the Chinese version of Tik Tok, blocked the profiles of 331 users who posted insults, denigrating messages and even spread rumors about athletes, and regretted that such behavior tarnished the enjoyment of the international event.
It also intercepted and removed 6,780 abusive videos and comments.
Similar reasons led Weibo, the Twitter-like social media platform, to ban 850 accounts from publishing or commenting for as long as 30 day and remove 41,473 illegal micro-blogs.
Douyin and Weibo proceeded with those measures amid a digital offensive emerged this week against Zhu Yi, who failed to qualify in the first figure skating competitions.
