The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) stated that 16,845 patients are in hospitals or at home nationwide, 9,924 of whom are suspected cases, 187 are under epidemiological surveillance and 6,734 are active cases (534 fewer than those reported on Monday).
At a press briefing on television, the Ministry added that 1,548 patients were discharged after recovering from the disease (530 more than on the previous day), so the number of recovered patients rose to 1,040,687 (98.6 percent of all cases).
The MINSAP added that 51 people are being treated in intensive care units: 18 are in a critical condition and 33 are seriously ill.
The provinces with the largest number of cases are Holguin (169), Matanzas and Ciego de Avila (126) and Sancti Spiritus (100).
With these statistics, Cuba has accumulated 1,055,927 contagions and 8,447 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country on March 11, 2020.
