President Díaz-Canel congratulates Cuba´s CIP

Havana, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Monday congratulated the country´s Press Information Center (CIP, in Spanish) on the occasion of its 35th anniversary.

On Twitter, the Cuban leader also thanked CIP´s contribution to the country’s communication work.

According to local press, CIP is a specialized center on journalism, graphic arts and communication in general, which responds, organized and functionally, to the needs and demands of a fully-identified group.

To this end, CIP processes info generated by both internal and external sources so as to organize and make technological and informational products and services with high added value available to their users, according to Radio Rebelde station.

According to Radio Rebelde, the original idea arose as a result of a debate generated in the 5th Meeting of the Association of Cuban Journalists (UPEC, in Spanish) in 1986, due to the need of the journalistic sector to access updated information in a difficult moment for the country.
