This is not the Code of egalitarian marriage, it is an emancipating Code that solves a whole set of problems that exist at the social level in the country, said the president at a meeting of the Council of Ministers, according to the website of the Presidency of the Republic.
“It is a Code of plurality, which recognizes all families, all types of families that exist in Cuba, and the problems associated with their development,” he emphasized.
Diaz-Canel noted that focusing its scope only on the issue of egalitarian marriage “is simplifying it because it has more enriching, ennobling and emancipating aspects.”
He stressed that it has more important advice “than the one that is always referred to, especially by those who want to distort the scope, comprehensiveness, modernity, strength and contribution to our society of this new Code of Families”.
The Cuban population will participate from today until April in popular consultations on the new Family Code, which once enriched by popular participation will be submitted to the National People’s Power Assembly, whose opinion will then be subject to a national referendum.
