For her part, Tran Phuong, permanent vice president of the Union of Friendship Associations in Hanoi, recalled some passages of the struggles shared by the two nations over more than 60 years of relations.
Both speakers renewed the vows of friendship between Vietnamese and Cubans, which took shape in Marti’s chronicle “Un paseo por la tierra de los anamitas” (A Walk through the Land of the Annamites), and later cultivated by Presidents Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh.
As a recent example of such feelings, they cited the bilateral cooperation in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, expressed through the sending of several shipments of Vietnamese rice to the island and the supply of Cuban anti-Covid-19 vaccines to the Asian nation.
