This is the Committee’s second donation in recent weeks and it will be distributed in departments dedicated to the emergency medical services in the city and other localities in the jurisdiction, the Red Cross delegation in Ethiopia reported.
Founded in 1863 and genesis of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the organization’s mission is to assist and protect victims of war and internal violence.
In the last few months, several organizations have been supporting the government’s efforts to help the people of Tigray with medical supplies and food provisions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently stated.
Since November 2020, Tigray has been engaged in a war of the federal army against the TPLF, which has been declared terrorist by Parliament and has been accused of violating human rights, among many other crimes.
By late June 2021, the authorities decreed an armistice, but the group rejected it and extended its criminality to Afar and Amhara, for which Ethiopia demands the same collaboration that countries and international organizations are seeking for Tigray.
