Martí’s phrase “Homeland is humanity” spread throughout the planet as a symbol of Cuba’s internationalist solidarity, the association stressed in a statement on the occasion of the 169th anniversary of the birth of José Martí.
The organization highlighted the fact that Martí’s thought provides foundations for the Cuban Revolution and constitutes a bulwark and a compass.
“Fidel Castro knew it well when he picked up the torch to guide the centenary generation to victory on July 26th, 1953” the statement said.
Cuba Linda recalled that the values of dignity, solidarity, faith in the people and concern for children and education continue to illuminate the path chosen by Cubans.
The association also recognized Martí’s lucidity when he warned about the rapacity of US imperialism and the importance of the unity of the peoples to confront the United States, a vision that is fully valid for Cuba, Latin America and worldwide.
