The poll, corresponding to the third quarter of 2021, also shows the approval of 69.7 percent of those interviewed regarding the reestablishment of relations with China and 78.9 percent considers these ties beneficial and hopeful.
Regarding the expectations to build the Interoceanic Canal, on the basis of possible investments from China, the majority of those polled was aware of the development for property owners in that area and the preservation and restoration of Lake Nicaragua.
For 90.5 percent of those surveyed, Nicaragua’s progress and well-being depends on relations with all countries and they also value ties with Russia, the European Union and the United States, although they condemn Joe Biden’s statements about the general elections in the country.
Most of those polled explained their conception of democracy on living in peace, freedom and stability, although they take into account other parameters such as expressing themselves freely, respect for people’s rights and equality before the law, choosing freely and prosperity.
Likewise, nine out of ten Nicaraguans rejected the roadblocks as a method of protest to achieve changes in the country, recognized dialogue as the way to resolve political and social conflicts, and supported the government’s proposal for unity and the fight against poverty.
