In response to a question from Prensa Latina, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow expresses its regret for the position of the countries that have taken a course of unconditional support to the destructive policy of the United States towards the Caribbean nation.
The head of Russian diplomacy pointed out that those actions are incompatible with the principles of humanism and guarantee of human rights, to which the countries supporting the United States declare their commitment.
The diplomat pointed out that the tragic consequences of the blockade for the Cuban population are a universally recognized fact, detailed in the reports by the UN secretary-general.
Lavrov pointed out that the Russian delegation to the United Nations follows a consistent policy of exerting international pressure on the United States with the aim of putting an immediate end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
He recalled that the UN General Assembly regularly condemns Washington’s unilateral measures against the island and calls for an end to this kind of destructive policy, with the adoption every year of a resolution against it.
