The new settlements will further disconnect the West Bank from East Jerusalem and will represent an additional obstacle to the two-State solution, spokesmen for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the three European countries said in a statement.
In the text, the three powers urged the Israeli authorities to reverse the decision, which is in addition to those adopted in the last decades to alter the demography of the West Bank and thus perpetuate the occupation.
The intention is to build 2,092 settlements in the vicinity of Mount Scopus and 1,465 others between Givat Hamatos and Har Homa.
This action directly threatens the viability of a future Palestinian state, with settlements that constitute clear violations of international law and obstruct the way towards a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians, Paris, Rome and Berlin stressed.
