The soldiers entered early Wednesday the Salhia home in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood to forcibly remove people inside, among family members, eight children and anti-occupation activists.
That Palestinian neighborhood gained international notoriety due to the May 2021 massive protests, when Israeli courts resumed home confiscation orders against four families who have resided there for generations.
The legal and political battle over the case became a symbol over the future of that area of the city, which the Palestinians claim as the capital of their future State, a position supported by most of the countries.
The Israeli army occupied East Jerusalem in the 1967 war, and since then successive Tel Aviv governments have refused to withdraw, despite the UN Security Council resolutions, while Israeli settlements grow in the area.
