Havana, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) The Department of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad on Wednesday highlighted the support of nationals abroad who demand that the Government of the United States lift the blockade against the Caribbean island.

On its Twitter account, the Foreign Ministry’s Department recalled the holding of the 1st Meeting of Cubans against the Helms-Burton Act, which took place on January 18 and 19, 1997.

Today, like 25 years ago, our nationals residing abroad have raised their voices to demand the US Government, the message added.

Ernesto Soberon, director of Consular Affairs and Cubans Resident Abroad, recently expressed gratitude for the actions taken by solidarity groups in support of the Cuban people and families.

At a meeting with activists who reject the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, the diplomat ratified the will to strengthen ties with nationals residing abroad, through an irreversible and constantly updated process.

In January, donations have arrived in Havana from the solidarity organizations Bridges of Love, Code Pink and The People’s Forum, and from Cuban musician and composer Ignacio “Nachito” Herrera, who lives in the United States.
