Macron leads polls ahead of presidential elections

Paris, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) A new poll on the French presidential elections on Tuesday ratified the head of State Emmanuel Macron's favoritism to achieve another five-year term at the Elysee Palace, 82 days before the elections.

The poll by Elabe conducted for BFM TV reflected that 48 percent of the French respondents anticipate Macron’s reelection, while a 14 percent of them believe in the victory of conservative right-wing politician Valerie Pecresse and an identical figure sees far-right leader Marine Le Pen as the winner.

Further away, the poll with 1,000 participants held from January 14 to 17 also showed far-right candidate Eric Zemmour, with six percent, and Jean-Luc Melenchon, leader of La France Insoumise, with five percent, who within the Left Party continues as the best positioned to the April 10 first round.

According to BFM TV’s summary of polls, Macron has a voting intention average around 25 percent, which would guarantee him a position in the April 24 balloting, with Le Pen and Pecresse with 17 percent each, to reach runoff.

On Monday, an IFOP-Fiducial poll for Paris Match, LCI and Sud Radio media gave the president 24.5 percent support in first round, ahead of Le Pen (17 percent) and Pecresse (16.5 percent).
