The Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water rejected news spread by Israeli Channel 12 about an alleged acceptance by the United States of a pact to supply gas to Beirut.
The Lebanese authorities confirmed that the agreement includes gas supply from Egypt that will pass through Jordan and Syria.
US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea assured that there is no concern about Washington’s sanctions law on the Egyptian-Jordanian-Syrian-Lebanese agreement.
However, Washington did not issue any official statement on the issue, while the Caesar Act, an oppressive measure against Syria that prohibits any commercial transshipment with Damascus, remains in force.
