An unidentified official source from the party noted that Hariri, the leader of that movement, will only morally and politically support the candidates of his political organization.
The source added that the former head of Government will not select the candidates, and will not offer any financial support.
Hariri served as prime minister twice (2009-2011 and 2016-2019) and was an influential figure in the Lebanese sociopolitical landscape until he faced what later became the worst economic and financial crisis in decades.
After his resignation in October 2019 in the face of mass civilian insubordination, his star began to dim over the alleged withdrawal of support from his partners in Saudi Arabia.
In November 2017, the estrangement was notorious when Saudi authorities detained him for 21 days and forced him to issue a declaration of resignation, from which he backtracked when he returned to Lebanon.
