The decision puts an end to long days of legal proceedings, where the tennis player sought to be allowed to play without a complete vaccination scheme.
Djokovic contracted Covid-19 in mid-December and intended to take part in the event with a negative test for the virus, but both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Immigration of Australia prevented him from doing so. One of the reasons for the final ruling is the impact it will have on anti-vaccine groups to allow Djokovic to play without being vaccinated.
For the 34-year-old player, the competitive outlook is looking bleak, considering that of the year’s four major tournaments, Djokovic would only be allowed to compete in the Roland Garros without a completed vaccination scheme.
