Israeli campaign against Palestinian journalists denounced

Ramallah, Jan 14 (Prensa Latina) Israeli soldiers and police committed 1,070 violations against the Palestinian press in 2021, which included the murder of journalists, physical attacks, arrests and destruction of equipment, an official source denounced on Friday.

Salam Marouf, director general of the Palestinian Government Media Office, cited as an example the death of Yousef Abu Hussein during an Israeli air strike on his home in May 2021.

Marouf noted that since 2000, Tel Aviv’s soldiers have killed 47 Palestinian journalists.

He said that the occupation troops systematically use direct and excessive force against Palestinian reporters to prevent them from covering crimes committed against the people of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

In view of this situation, he called on the international community to provide protection to Palestinian journalists and media outlets.
