The General Administration of Customs indicated that the total foreign trade volume was 39.1 trillion yuan (6.16 trillion dollars) last year.
In detail, exports experienced an increase of 21.2 points and imports rose 21.5 percent.
But those indicators saw a slow growth in December, due to the high shipping costs and low demand for goods in the holiday season.
During 2021, China also grew trade exchanges with member countries of the European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Belt and Road Initiative and even the United States, which has been engaged since 2018 in a trade war against this country.
For this year, authorities will seek, above all, to maintain the macroeconomic and social stability, but at the same time, they will continue efforts to deepen the reform and opening-up policy, accelerate growth on the basis of innovation and achieve the high-standard development.
