At a press conference, Mr. Grushko asserted that Russian authorities will take all necessary actions “to prevent any infringement of Russia’s legitimate defense security interests.”

“We hope that the countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) set out their opinions on how the path of implementation of proposals we have presented can be followed or even how to explain why they are unacceptable,” Grusko stressed.

In this regard, Mr. Grushko stated in the talks held in Brussels that NATO must provide Russia with legal guarantees that it will not expand towards its borders.

“Today we have explicitly said this is an element that must be present, in any case, it is an absolute imperative: the stopping of the ‘open door’ policy and the presentation to Russia of legal guarantees there will be no further NATO expansion to the east,” Mr. Grushko said.
