Based in the third most populated city in Cuba, the weekly “continues having the same essence since its inception with the task of reinventing itself and sustaining itself with the Revolution itself,” Director Daicar Saladrigas commented in an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina.
With more than a decade at the helm of the newspaper, the journalist assured that the preparation of its professionals is directly linked to economic matters, “because it is vital to know issues such as the implementation of the 63 measures of the country’s top leadership on the matter of food production.”
Saladrigas, who is also a lawmaker in the National People’s Power Assembly made reference to Adelante’s links with institutions such as the Cuban Association of Economists and the University of Camagüey, due to the need to be attentive to the work of new actors in the economy.
“Our mission, in addition to preparing ourselves, is to alert both the population and the government,” Saladrigas said.
Cuba, which is going through complex times, has all its spheres cross-sectioned by economic issues and to this are added the most recent regulations on legislative updates.
“Therefore, we are facing the challenge of being opinion leaders, that our agenda increasingly resembles the Cuba we want and that we reach out more strongly to social networks and different digital platforms, in addition to our website, which is already 22 years old,” he noted.
