“We will continue advancing towards new times of prosperity with the spiritual strength of (Simon) Bolívar and (Augusto Cesar) Sandino. We will consolidate our dreams,” the Venezuelan president wrote on his Twitter account.
The head of State attended the inauguration ceremony of his counterpart Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, on Monday.
“We come with the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood. We extend our congratulations to the Nicaraguan people for the exemplary electoral process they experienced in November,” Maduro said upon arrival in the Central American country.
For his part, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia condemned the new coercive measures taken by the Government of the United States as part of its hostile policy against the Nicaraguan Government.
The sanctions adopted on Monday limit visas to police officials, mayors and prosecutors, allegedly for repressing the independent media and making arrests for political reasons, according to a tweet from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“There will be no aggression or imperial threat that can bend the will of our peoples to be free and sovereign. From Venezuela we reject the new unilateral coercive measures by the US Government against the Nicaraguan people and Government,” Plasencia tweeted.
