Anna Popova, head of Russia´s public health agency Rospotrebnadzor, said Tuesday. Ms. Popova stated that Omicron variant has been confirmed in Moscow, St. Petersburg, the republics of Bashkortostan and Ingushetia, as well as Perm, Rostov, Murmansk, Leningrad, Oriol, Orenburg, Ryazan and Nizhny Novgorod.
She warned that the number of Omicron variant cases in Russia during the New Year´s Eve celebrations tripled, hitting 305.
The number of cases in her country could surge six times in an unfavorable scenario and failure to comply with the epidemiological measures rolled out in Russia for two years.
