Havana, Jan 10 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Monday condemned the imposition of unilateral coercive measures by the United States on Nicaragua, just on the day of the swearing-in of Daniel Ortega as president of that nation.

On his Twitter account, Rodriguez rejected the visa restrictions imposed against Nicaraguan executives, which he described as an attempt at interfering in the internal affairs of the country.

“We ratify our solidarity with the Government and People of #Nicaragua,” the head of Cuban diplomacy tweeted.

The measures adopted on Monday against Nicaragua limit visas to police officials, mayors and prosecutors, allegedly for repressing independent media and making arrests for political reasons, according to a tweet from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

Coincidentally, the sanctions take place hours before the inauguration ceremony of the head of State, Daniel Ortega, and Vice President Rosario Murillo, who won with a overwhelming advantage the elections on November 7.
