In a message he published tonight in Twitter, Arreaza indicated that according to information provided by PSUV structures, the proposed goal had not been achieved, despite the governing alliance having recorded an increase of votes with respect to November 21.
“I heartily thank our heroic militancy. We will continue protecting the people of Barinas”, the former foreign minister said.
If the National Electoral Council confirmed the results, Barinas would be the country’s fourth governorship in the hands of the opposition, together with the states of Zulia, Nueva Esparta and Cojedes.
The November 21 voting in Barinas had been annulled by the Supreme Court of Justice after opposition politicians claimed irregularities against the main opposition candidate.
