On Thursday, the French agency had reported 261,481 cases, after registering 332,252 on Wednesday and 271,686 on Tuesday, so the country´s average number of infected in last four days is close to 300,000, one of the world´s worst hit nations.
Earlier, the SI-DEP platform, in charge of summarizing the results of tests to detect Covid-19, revealed 409,370 positive tests on Monday, nearly five infections per second.
As experts forecast, the hospitalization rate does not go in line with positive cases, in tune with the Omicron´s described features, a variant much more aggressive than Delta but less dangerous.
In this regard, as many as 21,605 people are currently hospitalized, 436 more than the day before, and 3,815 patients are in ICUs (56 more).
Regarding Covid-19 deaths, Public Health regretted 193 deaths in the last 24 hours, in a country with more than 125,000 deaths reported since March 2020.
