Washington, Jan 7 (Prensa Latina) A team of experts created a blood test allowing to detect cancer and its spread, an invention that could revolutionize the diagnosis of this disease, a scientific source reported Friday.

“This is a metabolomic blood test to detect different types of cancer and metastasis in the body,” according to an article from the journal Clinical Cancer Research.

Blood metabolite profiles have differences, for example, they are not the same in healthy people than those people with localized and metastatic cancer.

Cancer cells have unique metabolomic fingerprints and can be used as biomarkers, experts noted.

According to scientists, their major goal is to produce a cancer test that any physician can ask for, so this will allow a timely, accurate and cost-effective classification of patients with suspected cancer.
