Dr. Gretza Sánchez, Provincial Health Director, assured that the new omicron variant of Covid-19 is not spreading across the province, but she insisted on how important is to be fully vaccinated and receive a booster dose.
Ms. Sánchez said that 1,216 real-time PCR tests were conducted on Monday, and 20 new autochthonous and 8 imported cases were diagnosed with Covid-19 in the province, increasing the province´s coronavirus incidence rate to 9.95 per 100,000 inhabitants.
For such a reason, she urged to continue wearing face coverings and masks, regular hand-washing/disinfection, as well as immediate isolation before any symptoms.
Judí Rodríguez, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party, urged the creation of isolation capacities in each of the 13 municipalities of the province, calling for strengthening the risk perception in the population and not lowering our guard against a disease that has caused so much sadness to the Cuban family.
