Through his Twitter account, the president recalled an artist “of impressive beauty; with soft words, sweet eyes and a kind smile , founder of Cuban Television, who passed away yesterday at the age of 93”.
Cabrera became one of the undisputed leaders of the theatrical movement that flourished in Cuba in the 1950s, in the heat of projects such as the Patronato de Teatro and the Academy of Dramatic Arts (ADAD) and deserved the qualification of Queen of Drama in Cuba due to her versatility in this genre.
She also shone in theater roles and children’s programs as well as in the radio field where she appeared in soap operas and plays during her long career marked by her charisma, talent and beauty.
Regarding cinema, Cabrera also demonstrated her talents in several Cuban and foreign films, mainly in the so-called golden age of Mexican cinema and, later, she was involved in the teaching and training of actors until the end of her life.
She received several awards for her work, including the Caricato Special Television Award in 1999 and the 2003 National Television Award, as well as the National Order Medal for 30 years dedicated to art.
